6 Month check-up

Jayda turned 6 months last Thursday and had her check up today. She is 27 inches long-still in the 95% for height, 16 pounds 6 ounces- 55% for weight and her head circumference is 16.75 inches- 50%. So she is still on track to being tall and skinny like her cousin Ashtyn. Can anyone tell me why the head measurement is so important? If her head is tiny does that mean there is only a tiny brain inside? If her head were bigger would she be smarter? Ha Jk! But really, I should have asked why that is such an important one.

A little bit about the bug at 6 months:
Jayda is now sitting up by herself and is getting more and more vocal. This can be difficult in church but is a lot of fun at home where we don't have to worry about the noise level. We also have the go-ahead to start feeding her rice cereal which we are really excited about. We will do that tomorrow morning when all three of us are together. She can scoot herself around in a little circle but isn't really trying to get up on her knees yet. There are also no teeth coming in yet, but my friend Brittney felt in her mouth and could feel two that should be coming in a little while. She is also extremely social and smiles at everyone. She does however have "stranger danger" already and is perfectly content as long as she is in mine or Bryce's arms. I am told that this will only get worse before it gets better.

Below are her 6 month pictures. I decided to try my hand at photography instead of going to the expense to pay one.

Today was Bryce's off Saturday so he didn't have to work his normal job but he signed up to work the Jazz game and so it was just us girls hanging out today. I had a fun day hanging out with my little one. I honestly am so amazed at what a sweet, happy baby she is.

When I have time alone it makes me think about things going on in my life. As of Thursday I am officially part-time at King's Medical. This was not my idea and makes me a little nervous because we just bought a house and are paying a babysitter 2 days a week on top of other expenses. It is also a decision that in my mind does not make a whole lot of sense. When they let my boss go and decided have our boss be a woman that works out of her home clear across the country in Florida it didn't make any sense to me either. Most of the decisions that this company has made have not made any sense to me but I am hoping that something good comes out of this and it will be a chance for me to spend less time away from my family. My last 15 months at King's has been a bumpy road to say the least but it has enabled me to learn a few things.

1. I want to be a positive person.
2. It is so extremely easy to find other peoples' faults. The more you practice the better you are at it. However, it is harder to recognize my own and to try to be forgiving and understanding rather than griping. I don't feel any better about myself or the situation after I have complained.
3. People may seem angry and rude but are mostly just scared and in pain. 99% of the time I can talk someone out of their bad mood and their fear of the unknown. I used to be afraid of the mean, ornery people that came into our clinic but now I understand them a little better.
4. Good things can come out of bad situations
5. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what sort of crap I went through at work, I am blessed to be able to come home to the two sweetest faces in the world.

I'm not quite sure where this little bump will take me. Maybe to another job, maybe not, but hopefully it will be for the better.

This is one of the faces I have been coming home to lately. I think she learned it from Bryce and I. It is my favorite. She does it when she is focusing on something, when she is trying to get our attention and sometimes she will mimic us when we do it.

Here are the two of them together. I always knew Bryce would be a good dad and so far he has done nothing but prove me right. He loves to play with Jayda and is still such a little kid at heart.

I took this today when we were hanging out.

Today she was playing on the floor and she grabbed her blanket and rolled over like this!

On Wednesday after I got off work the three of us went to the mall. We went into a few stores and then went into Icing by Claire's to check out what they had since I can't wear any earrings that hang down at all or they will be yanked out fiercely by the munchkin. We also checked out the two girls working there to see if they seemed competent enough to pierce Jayda's ears. After sizing them up we ended up letting the manager go ahead and do it. It was nerve-wracking but we are glad that we did it. She looks adorable with them in and doesn't even notice that they are there.

Long live the mudflap

Jayda was born with a mullet. However when she was younger she had dark hair on the top to balance it out. Now it is thinner and coming in blond but the mudflap keeps getting bigger and badder. So sad to say-with the help of my mom, it is gone. Her first official haircut.

This is after. I do not claim to cut hair as a profession. She will be wearing a headband for the next few days.

She is also rolling from front to back and can roll both ways now.

And we are working on sitting up! Yeah!

What if that had been poop!?!

I have absolutely HATED not having the Internet and the chance to write on our blog and keep up with everyone Else's. Not having the Internet at our apartment was fine but then my boss decides that work is really for work and absolutely nothing else and then I am left stuck in the 1900's with no Internet. So when we moved into our new home we tried to get our Internet hooked up again. Who knew it would be such a difficult process? It took another month to get everything worked out. Apparently we have "fiber optic" Internet connections. Sounds fancy doesn't it? Looks the same to me. We just had to buy a new modem. All grumbling aside, we are so happy to be all moved in and settled. We will hopefully be here for a good 5 to 7 years which will surpass my record of living in one place by a about 2-4 years.

Today is Sunday and for the first month we lived here, I took Jayda to church by myself because it started at 1 and Bryce has to be to work by 1. When we entered 2010 the time changed to 9 which I was really excited about because I wouldn't have to be a loner anymore. So he had a chance to come to church last week but this week he got a phone call and they needed him to come in early which means sucks for you, you're going by yourself again. Trying to keep Jayda happy and most of all quiet for 3 ours isn't the easiest thing but we made it through just fine and it is definitely worth it because there are some AMAZING teachers in our ward. Love, Love, Love them. After church Jayda was pretty ornery and I tried for a while to calm her down. Then I assumed it was because she hadn't really taken a nap. She usually doesn't on Sundays because of everything going on around her. So I put her in her crib which just fired her up even more. Ok, maybe she was hungry. I picked her up, made her a little bottle and rocked her to sleep within minutes. Then when I went to lay her back down in her crib I got something gooey on my finger. I looked down and there was a big chunk of green goo on my finger. (I will let you use your imagination with that one) It iwas also on her dress and her blanket that I had her wrapped up in. Gross. So now that she was asleep I had to change her sheets, her outfit and her blanket and then feed her a little more and luckily she went back to sleep. Stressful as the crying and poop and trying to figure out what was wrong was, it made me think of the movie Baby Mama. I highly recommend it, it is hilarious. The mom asks her kid "Is that chocolate or is that poop?" and then she licks it to find out. So her sister says "What if that had been poop!?!" She just shrugs and says, "I told you parenting is messy." So incredibly true. :) But a little poop never killed anyone right?

K-updating this blog is a little overwhelming in thinking about all of the things I need to catch up on so I am not even going to try. I am just going to post a few pics that highlight some of the things that have happened since I last wrote.

Jayda's cousins came to visit and you would think that first thing in the morning she would be afraid of all these little faces so close but she was just eating it up. She loves them!
Grandpa schow gave her a big flower, a tutu and some cute ballet socks so we had a little photo session.

Jayda has found her feet and loves to roll over. She can only roll in one direction so she just keeps going until she runs into something

Jayda's first Christmas was a blast. We definitely had a lot more of the Christmas spirit with a little baby around.

Tell me about it

This is a video of Jayda telling me about her day. I don't even have to talk back to her, she is content just talking away. She just started doing this about a day ago and it is so funny how she will all of a sudden start doing something. Each week she is doing something new and I am amazed.

Yeah to Holiday Blogging

Let me just say that I was really happy today when I was able to look at all of the holiday blogging people did. It gave me something to do to pass the time at work. Keep them coming!

We had a fun Halloween. It started off with a little b-ball at the church. Since Jason is leaving on Wednesday we thought this would be a fun family activity.
The cheerleaders

It is tradition for my two little cousins to come over and visit us on Halloween. I love this tradition. It is so fun to see them every year. I will be sad when they get too old for this tradition.
Cute little Louie came over too.

Jayda's first snow

As everyone knows Tuesday was our first snow of the season and as it was Jayda's very first snow ever so I had to get a picture. This happened the day before she turned 3 months.

As much as I hate the cold and snow, I am excited for next year when she will be old enough to play in it and get excited about it. It makes me remember when I was a little kid and how much I loved sledding in our backyard on the little hill that my dad had made a jump on. We always thought that was so cool.
